CHICAGO — A series of burglaries occurred early Thursday morning across Chicago's North and Northwest sides, affecting at least six businesses. Chicago police have issued a warning to local establishments following the incidents.

The burglaries took place over a span of five hours. Authorities reported that a group of two to four individuals, driving a black sedan, forced entry into the targeted locations. The offenders focused on accessing safes and cash registers before fleeing the scene.

The incidents occurred at the following locations and times:

    • 4300 block of West Addison Street at 1:33 a.m.
    • 2600 block of West North Avenue at 2:36 a.m.
    • 2500 block of North Clark Street at 5:15 a.m.
    • 3800 block of North Clark Street at 5:41 a.m.
    • 4700 block of North Kedzie Avenue at 6:18 a.m.

Authorities are continuing to investigate and have urged businesses in the area to review security measures. No arrests have been made.

Residents are frustrated as this is far from an isolated event. Just last Monday, 11 residents were the victims of armed robbery in about a half hour on Chicago's Southwest Side. Police remain unsure whether these incidents are connected.

Between August 10 and September 2, multiple residents were robbed at gunpoint in the parking lot of a Southwest Side Chicago McDonalds restaurant

In March, more than 13 people were held up at gunpoint and robbed West, Near West, and Nortwest sides of Chicago.

In May, at least a dozen armed robberies occured in businesses which included late-night fast food restaurants, bars, liquor stores, Convenience stores and taverns across the city.

Last December, at least 13 armed robberies occured on Chicago's West, North-West Side in about 8 hours.

These are just a few incidents of many that have occured across Chicago in the past year. Usually, when these event occur, they are reported the next day and the Chicago Police issue a warning about the robberies having occured and appeal the the public for information about the crimes. Residents are upset over so many multiple incident armed robberies occuring in the city while the police are not able to intervene while they are still occuring. This could ideally allow police to indentify and possibly arrest suspects preventing addition incidents occuring during that series of robberies.

While Chicago's Mayor says that crime is down in the city, violent crimes are actually on the rise in Chicago with robberies being at a 5-year high.
