DOLTON, Ill. — Dolton Mayor Tiffany Henyard is facing eviction after an alleged rent dispute. Documents indicate that Henyard and her partner, Kamal Woods, are named in an eviction notice filed in Cook County Court.

The pair has rented a residence on the 14600 block of South Harvard for three years. According to the property owner, they have fallen behind on rent, owing over $3,300. The eviction notice further claims that Henyard refused to allow a property inspection.

Henyard’s attorney responded to inquiries, stating via text that the allegations are untrue and that all rent payments have been made.

Further details regarding the case will be released as the situation develops.

This eviction battle comes on top of a recent court ruling that has restricted Henyard from appointing key village officials without board approval, creating uncertainty over the village’s leadership. Cook County Judge Thaddeus Wilson issued an injunction Wednesday, preventing Henyard from unilaterally appointing a village manager, attorney, and police chief. The ruling also placed a temporary restraining order on Henyard’s appointed officials from taking office.

This decision mark eda legal win for Dolton trustees, who opposed Henyard’s leadership. David Greising, head of the Better Government Association, called the situation “a slow-moving train wreck.”

Additional legal problems for Henyard involve former Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s investigation which has revealed a $3.65 million deficit in Dolton’s general fund. The FBI has launched its own financial probe into this discrepancy. Henyard has yet to comment publicly on any of these investigations or court rulings.
