DOLTON, IL - In a dramatic town hall that has now gained national attention, Dolton, Illinois Mayor Tiffany Henyard was met with a chorus of boos as she attempted to address a local meeting. The tense moment, captured in a viral video, has left many wondering why the once-elected mayor now faces such hostility from her community.

The controversy at the heart of the incident appears to be a growing dispute between Henyard and Dolton’s village trustees. The disagreement centers on where official meetings should be held, and whether the one Henyard attended was legally sanctioned. According to reports, Henyard arrived at the gathering with plans to fill vacant positions, but her presence was met with vocal resistance from the crowd.

In the viral footage, Henyard stands before the gathering, declaring, “I am the mayor,” only to be greeted with a mix of boos and cheers. As the crowd grew louder, she urged for calm, saying, “Hold on, respect, guys, respect. Let me make my statement or I’m going to leave your illegal meeting.”

Despite her attempts to continue, the heckling persisted for seven minutes before Henyard eventually exited. As she left, she delivered a sharp parting shot, accusing the board of trustees of corruption, stating, “Every last one of them up here is corrupt.”

This confrontation is just the latest chapter in an ongoing power struggle between Henyard and the village trustees. A judge had previously blocked her attempts to make the appointments she sought at the meeting, further intensifying the friction. In response, Henyard has filed a lawsuit against the trustees, accusing them of holding an unauthorized meeting, a claim she alluded to during her speech.

Beyond the town hall, Henyard’s administration has been under increasing scrutiny. Some Dolton residents and officials have accused her of misusing taxpayer money and mishandling village affairs, with some even labeling her a “dictator.” These concerns have led to a federal investigation, with subpoenas issued in Dolton and Thornton Township.

In a separate report commissioned by former Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot, it was revealed that Dolton’s finances are in disarray, largely due to rising expenditures under Henyard’s leadership. As the federal probe continues, the village finds itself deeply divided, with tensions only expected to escalate.
