CHICAGO – A brazen train theft unfolded on Chicago’s West Side Friday afternoon, leading to the arrests of several individuals. Chicago police were called to the rail yard near Lake Street and Lockwood Avenue in Garfield Park after reports surfaced of people looting freight train cars.

Footage from around 4:30 p.m. showed several suspects pulling items from open train cars, with some seen walking away carrying stolen goods. The chaotic scene caught the attention of authorities, and by 4:54 p.m., at least one person was seen in handcuffs.

Although initial reports indicated that no arrests had been made by 5:30 p.m., Metra officials later confirmed that five individuals were in police custody. The total number of arrests was later revised to at least six, according to authorities.
