The WNBA All-Star Game takes place today, Saturday, July 20, 2024, at the Footprint Center in Phoenix. This year's event is particularly notable as the WNBA All-Stars will compete against the USA Basketball Women's National Team, which is gearing up for the Paris Olympics.

Chicago is particularly excited to catch the game, as rookey Chicago Sky player Angel Reese will be playing for the first time. It will also be a great game to watch as rivals Angel Reese and Caitlin Clark will be teamates after several high profile WNBA games against each other.

“I’m just excited just to be here in this moment and everybody coming and being able to watch. I know it’s gonna be a sold-out crowd. Women’s sports is going into a rise, and I’m happy," said Reese.

As a sports town, Chicago is not limited in sports bars from neighborhood dives to upscale establishments. Here are some favorites where you can watch the WNBA All-Star game tonight.

    Whiskey Girl Tavern

Located in Edgewater, Whiskey Girl Tavern is having watch parties for the WNBA games beginning July 20 at 7:00 pm. In addition to specialized cocktails, the bar has limited menu items including Pizza, Hand-breaded Chicken Tenders, Pretzel Bites, Blistered Breen Beans and Fresh Cut Fries.

    Gracie O'Malley's

With three location in Wicker Park, Portage Park and Edgewater this Irish sports bar is a great option to watch the game. They have a wide selection of local beers in addition to other drinks and cocktails along with a full menu of shareable appetizers, pub food, local favorites and late night specials.

    Old Crow Smokehouse

A favorite Wrigleyville sports bar, Old Crow Smokehouse is known for showing a complete lineup of sports events on numerous screens throughout the establishment. This is one of the only sports bars in Chicago to boast quality barbecue on it's menu. It's also know for a wide selection of bourbons along with other cocktails, beers and wine.

    The Fifty/50

The Fifty/50 has become a Chicago Wicker Park staple since 2008, thanks to numerous accolades including “Best Sports Bar in America” (Yahoo, Thrillist) and “Best Wings in Chicago.” They have an extensive drink menu complimented by a variety of sandwiches, wings and burgers.

    The Globe Pub

The Globe Pub is a unique British-inspired neighborhood sports bar in Northcenter. With more than 20 TV screens positioned throughout the bar, and one on the patio, there's not a bad seat in the house to catch the game. The bar is known for its vibrant and dynamic atmosphere. They have over 40 beers on tap, and offer a variety beers, including local craft brews, and signature cocktails and a diverse menu with classic pub fare, vegetarian and vegan options.

    Kirkwood

This sizable bar has TVs along every inch to make sure no one misses a play. The have a fairly extensive bar menu which includes nachos, wings, chicken tenders, quesadillas, buffalo rolls, soups, salads and wraps. There is a full bar with some notable standouts including hard seltzers, shots and cocktails in one gallon fishbowls.

    The Pony

Grab a seat along the first floor 38ft copper-plated bar and watch the game on one of the 24-inch flat screens or 13 wall-mounted TVs. You can also watch the game upstairs, which is a great choice in summer given their retractable roof. Each floor has full bars and their food is American fare including tacos, pizzas and burgers.

    Jake Melnicks

Although it's billed as a Cubs Bar, Jake Melnicks shows practically every sport and when it's a home team, or even just a home player like tonight, you can bet the fans will be crazy. With 27 TVs around the place you won't have to worry about a blocked view. Along with a full bar, there are several full menu items such as salads, brisket, and wing platters along with table shareables like cheese curds, nachos, southern fried pickles and street corn dip.

Although most sports bars in the Chicago area will likely carry WNBA All-Star games, there's no guarantee they'll prioritize showing them depending on what other sports events are occuring. It's a good idea to consider going to a bar with many TV's and to call ahead to check and see if they'll be showing the game.

The game tip off will take place at 7:30 PM CDT.
