Three incidents across Chicago's South, Southwest sides leave juveniles seriously injured, police search for suspects

CHICAGO, IL - In a series of unrelated incidents, three juveniles were injured in separate shootings across Chicago's South and Southwest sides on Friday night and Saturday morning. These events have highlighted the ongoing issue of gun violence in the city, with no suspects currently in custody.

The first incident involved a 12-year-old boy who was shot in the early hours of Saturday on the 5100 block of South Calumet Avenue in the Washington Park neighborhood. Authorities reported that the boy was standing on the sidewalk when he was struck in the left leg. He was transported to Comer Children's Hospital, where he is reported to be in good condition. The investigation is ongoing, and no suspects have been identified or apprehended.

Later, a 14-year-old boy was critically injured in a shooting that took place around 11 p.m. on Friday. The incident occurred while the boy was walking through an alley in the 800 block of East 65th Street in the Woodlawn neighborhood. According to police reports, the shots were fired from a black Jeep, hitting the boy in the abdomen. He was also taken to Comer Children's Hospital, where he remains in critical condition. Police are continuing their search for the suspect.

The third shooting happened in the Lower West Side neighborhood. A 17-year-old boy was shot in the left leg while standing on the sidewalk in the 1500 block of West 18th Street. Despite his injuries, he managed to find transportation to Stroger Hospital with the help of a friend. The teenager is currently in good condition. Investigations into this incident are also ongoing, with no suspects in custody.

Detectives from Area 1 are leading the investigations into these shootings. They are working to determine the circumstances and identify those responsible for this spate of violence. The lack of immediate suspects underscores the challenges faced by law enforcement in addressing gun violence in the city.

Authorities are urging anyone with information on these incidents to come forward to aid in the investigations.
