Authorities seek public assistance in identifying suspect who attempted to lure child

CHICAGO – The Chicago Police Department has issued an alert regarding an attempted child luring incident that took place on the city's West Side earlier this week. The occurrence transpired on Tuesday, just before 7:30 p.m., in the 4600 block of West Jackson Boulevard in the Austin neighborhood.

Police reports confirm that the children were walking home from Clark John Park on the West Side of Chicago when a man driving a black GMC pickup truck, heading eastbound, gestured to the children and instructed them to "Come here." The children immediately ran home and reported the situation to their parents, who called the police.

The suspect was reportedly seen driving near the same park the following day, Wednesday, although it is believed that he had no contact with any children. The suspect is described as a white male, aged between 35 and 45, sporting a goatee. The vehicle involved is noted to have black rims, a side step on the rear quarter of its cab, and a black-striped cab cover. A stock photo of the truck has been released by the police to aid in identification.

The Chicago Police Department urges residents to remain alert and not to approach the suspect should they see him. They advise residents to remain calm and call 911 immediately if they spot the individual or vehicle. They should be prepared to give as much information as possible, including where they saw him, vehicle details, and the vehicle's license plate number.

Authorities request anyone with information related to the incident to contact the Bureau of Detectives – Area 4 at 312-746-8251. The police emphasize the importance of community cooperation in ensuring the safety of local children.
