    Edison Park neighborhood sees string of early morning Police car break-ins

    CHICAGO Chicago police have alerted the public following a series of burglaries targeting law enforcement vehicles in the Edison Park neighborhood on the North Side. These incidents, which occurred during early morning hours, have raised concerns about the security of police equipment.

    The burglars broke into the vehicles by shattering the rear windows on either the driver’s or passenger’s side, according to police reports. The targeted break-ins resulted in the theft of various law enforcement equipment.

    The incidents were reported at the following times and locations:

    • July 21, between 1:45 a.m. and 12:00 p.m., on the 7100 block of North Oleander Avenue.
    • August 3, at 2:36 a.m., on the 6400 block of North Northwest Highway.
    • August 3, at 2:40 a.m., on the 7400 block of North Harlem Avenue.

    As of now, no descriptions of the suspects have been provided by the authorities.

    The Chicago police are advising residents to remain aware of these incidents and take steps to secure their vehicles. Suggestions include parking in garages or well-lit areas, installing and maintaining operational surveillance cameras, and staying vigilant for any unusual activity in the vicinity.

    Residents are encouraged to report any suspicious behavior or individuals immediately by calling 911, providing detailed descriptions of suspects, and including vehicle details and license plate numbers if available.
