    Authorities investigate serious scooter accident involving black Dodge Charger

    CHICAGO — Chicago police are actively searching for the driver involved in a hit-and-run incident on the Near West Side that left a 45-year-old man with serious injuries on Friday evening.

    The incident occurred shortly before 6 p.m. when the victim was riding a scooter across Ruble Street. A black Dodge Charger struck the man in the 600 block of West Taylor Street. The vehicle then fled the scene, heading westbound on 71st Street.

    The Dodge Charger involved has license plate number "ER88171" and sustained damage to the front passenger windshield.

    The Major Accident Investigation Unit is leading the investigation. Authorities are urging anyone with information to contact the unit at (312) 745-4521.
