    Chicago Police investigate post-parade gunfire incident on South Side

    CHICAGO — A 16-year-old boy was injured in a shooting that took place Saturday afternoon on Chicago’s South Side, shortly after the conclusion of the Bud Billiken Parade. The incident occurred near East 44th Street and South King Drive in the Bronzeville neighborhood, close to the parade route.

    According to the Chicago Police Department, the shooting happened around 2:15 p.m., approximately two hours after the parade ended. The altercation involved the teen and another male, resulting in the victim suffering a graze wound to the head. Chicago Fire Department officials confirmed that the victim was transported to the University of Chicago Hospital, where he was reported to be in stable condition.

    Authorities have taken a person of interest into custody, and two firearms were recovered at the scene. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting is ongoing, with no additional information released at this time. Chicago police continue to appeal to witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
