Chicago Overnight Shootings Leave 16 Injured, Including Four Teenagers

Series of gunfire incidents across city result in multiple injuries, ongoing investigations

CHICAGO — A violent night in Chicago left 16 people wounded by gunfire, with four of the victims being teenagers. The shootings occurred across various neighborhoods from Saturday evening into early Sunday morning, leading to widespread concern and prompting multiple investigations by the Chicago Police Department.

The first incident took place around 8 p.m. on Saturday when three individuals were shot during an altercation at a gas station located in the 700 block of East 95th Street. Among the victims was a 16-year-old boy who suffered a gunshot wound to his arm. He was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center in critical condition. The other two victims, aged 24 and 20, were also taken to the same hospital and are reported to be in stable condition.

Later that evening, two more teenagers were shot while walking in the 1600 block of South Morgan Avenue at approximately 10:30 p.m. The victims, an 18-year-old man and a 15-year-old boy, were transported to Stroger Hospital, where they were listed in fair condition.

Around an hour later, a third teenager was injured in the 3800 block of South Vincennes. The 16-year-old victim was driving when he heard gunfire and realized he had been shot. He managed to pull over and seek help from nearby residents who contacted emergency services. The victim was treated at the University of Chicago Medical Center for three gunshot wounds to his arm and is reported to be in stable condition.

In addition to these incidents involving teenagers, several other shootings occurred throughout the night. At 9:10 p.m. on Saturday, a 23-year-old man was shot in the neck and face while standing on the sidewalk in the 9100 block of South Buffalo Avenue. The shooter, who was inside a black sedan, fled the scene immediately. The victim was taken to Advocate Trinity Hospital in critical condition.

Just 40 minutes later, another shooting occurred in the 7700 block of South Laflin Street. A 26-year-old man was shot in the head by an unknown assailant from a passing vehicle. He was rushed to Advocate Christ Medical Center, where he remains in critical condition.

Shortly before 11 p.m., a 34-year-old man was shot while sitting in his car in the 1600 block of West 47th Street following an argument with another individual. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital and is reported to be in stable condition.

The violence continued into the early hours of Sunday morning. At approximately 3 a.m., two men, aged 33 and 27, were shot in the 4900 block of West North Avenue after being confronted by an armed individual who ordered them to stop. As they attempted to flee, the assailant opened fire. The 27-year-old man sustained multiple gunshot wounds and is in critical condition at Mount Sinai Hospital, while the 33-year-old was shot in the foot and buttocks and is in stable condition at the same hospital.

Around 4 a.m., a 36-year-old man was shot in the arm in the 2400 block of South Francisco Avenue. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he is listed in stable condition. Another 36-year-old man was shot in the foot at approximately 5 a.m. in the 6000 block of West Fullerton Avenue and transported himself to Community First Medical Center, where he was treated and released in stable condition.

At about the same time, another shooting occurred in the 3700 block of West Armitage Avenue, where a man was shot in the abdomen. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition.

Later, at around 5:30 a.m., two men were shot in the 2700 block of South Ridgeway Avenue. One of the victims sustained a shoulder injury and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in stable condition.

In a separate incident, a 31-year-old man was discovered with multiple gunshot wounds in the 8000 block of South Emerald Avenue. He was transported to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he remains in critical condition.

As of now, no arrests have been made in connection with any of these shootings. Chicago police urge anyone with information to come forward.
