CHICAGO - The Democratic National Convention, scheduled to begin on August 19 in Chicago, will feature speeches from several of the party’s most prominent figures, including President Joe Biden, former Presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton, and former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton. According to sources familiar with the event’s planning, these key figures are confirmed to take the stage, adding significant weight to the convention proceedings.

This year’s convention follows President Biden’s recent announcement that he will not be seeking re-election, a decision made after facing pressure from within his party. His campaign experienced a series of setbacks, including a challenging debate performance in June and a subsequent decline in financial support. As a result, Vice President Kamala Harris, who has emerged as the unchallenged Democratic nominee, will formally accept the party’s nomination during the event.

In addition to the Clintons and Obama, Jason Carter, grandson of former President Jimmy Carter, is also slated to speak on behalf of his grandfather. The convention will be a pivotal moment for the Democratic Party as it seeks to rally support and unify its base ahead of the upcoming election.

Kamala Harris, poised to make history as the first Black woman and first Indian American to secure a major party’s presidential nomination, is expected to address the convention in a speech that will highlight her campaign’s vision for the future. The convention’s momentum has been building since Harris officially launched her presidential bid last month, leading to increased interest and attendance at convention-related events across Chicago.

The Harris campaign has seen a significant uptick in fundraising, with a record-breaking $310 million raised last month alone. Within 24 hours of announcing Minnesota Governor Tim Walz as her running mate, an additional $36 million was secured, underscoring the campaign’s growing support.

As the Democratic National Convention approaches, all eyes will be on Chicago, where party leaders will gather to endorse their candidate and outline their strategy for the election.
