CHICAGO - The Chicago White Sox are edging closer to setting a new franchise record for the most losses in a single season. During a doubleheader on Wednesday night against the Texas Rangers, the team recorded their 103rd loss of the year, falling 4-3 in the second game after losing the first 3-1. This marked the White Sox's sixth consecutive defeat and their 10th loss in the past 11 games, further emphasizing the team's struggles this season.

A significant moment during the game came when shortstop Lenyn Sosa was struck in the face by a baseball in the eighth inning. The incident occurred as Sosa was caught off guard by a throw to second base from catcher Chuckie Robinson. The ball appeared to hit Sosa in the nose, prompting immediate attention from the medical staff. Despite the impact, Sosa remained in the game.

Later in the game, the White Sox's hopes for a comeback were dashed when Andrew Vaughn's potential game-winning home run was denied by Texas Rangers outfielder Travis Jankowski. Jankowski made a leaping catch in the ninth inning, securing the Rangers' 4-3 victory. Vaughn acknowledged the impressive play, stating, "It’s probably one of the best catches you’ll see in a long time."

The White Sox's post-All-Star break performance has been dismal, with a record of 4-32. The team now stands just three losses away from surpassing the franchise's previous record of 106 losses set in 1970.
