NATCHEZ — Natchez Municipal Judge Christina Daugherty will hold a probable cause hearing on July 31 at 10 a.m. to decide whether a complaint against the Natchez fire chief is warranted.

Municipal Court is located inside the Natchez Police Department at 233 D’Evereux Drive.

Former police officer and NAACP official Lee Ford filed a complaint against Chief Robert Arrington, claiming that Arrington made him fear imminent bodily harm.

The confrontation between Ford and Arrington occurred at the end of the public portion of the meeting of the Mayor and Board of Aldermen on July 9.

A video from a Facebook Live feed of Ward 4 Alderwoman Felicia Bridgewater-Irving shows Arrington and Ford speaking. The video has no sound from their conversation, but it is not apparent they are arguing until Ward 2 Alderman Billie Joe Frazier enters the video and can be heard asking the two to “take it outside.”

The issue resulted from social media posts Ford made that Arrington interpreted as disrespectful of his wife. Neither Arrington nor Ford have commented on the incident, nor has Frazier.

Natchez Police Chief Cal Green said a probable cause hearing is necessary because it seems to her Ford is the aggressor in the video.
