NATCHEZ — Two traffic accidents late this week damaged property in downtown Natchez.

Ricky Anders, 61, of Natchez, was traveling in a Chevrolet pickup truck between 2 and 3 p.m. on Thursday when he said he experienced a medical episode and crashed his truck on Homochitto Street, taking out part of the wrought iron fence at Dunleith.

Natchez Police Department Commander Jerry Ford said Anders was taken to the hospital but did not have life-threatening injuries. Ford said he was issued a citation for having no insurance.

On Friday late afternoon, Jakeria Davis was driving a 2018 Jeep Compass eastbound on Franklin Street when she collided with a 2014 Dodge Ram truck traveling north on North Union Street driven by Randall Winborne.

“The collision caused Davis’s vehicle to leave the roadway and crash into the building at 601 Franklin,” Ford said.

Neither driver was issued a citation. Ford said it could not be determined which vehicle had the green light at the Franklin and North Union streets intersection.

An ambulance was rolled to the scene, but neither driver suffered life-threatening injuries, he said.
