NATCHEZ—UMB officials announced in a press release issued Wednesday that the bank is buying three branch locations from BankPlus.

The branches are located in New Roads and Eunice, Louisiana, and Port Gibson.

According to the press release, “This strategic decision marks a significant milestone in UMB’s ongoing plan to expand its footprint and enhance its service offerings in these regions, underscoring its commitment to providing personalized, community-focused banking services.”

The transaction is subject to regulatory approval and is expected to close in the first quarter of 2025. At that time, UMB will take ownership of the physical branch locations and the deposit relationships, while BankPlus will continue to service its existing loan relationships.

The purchase will increase the number of UMB branch banks to 12, expanding customer access in South Louisiana and Southwest Mississippi for existing customers.

All branches will continue to operate with their current schedule with the same employees, bank officials said.

UMB has a long-standing tradition of supporting local communities.

“We are excited about this opportunity to expand our presence and serve customers in New Roads, Eunice, and Port Gibson. This purchase aligns with our strategic vision of growth and reinforces our dedication to providing exceptional banking experiences to the communities we serve. We welcome the customers and employees of BankPlus to the UMB family and look forward to a bright future together,” said Adrian Sandel, UMB CEO. “We appreciate BankPlus for trusting us with their customers in these areas, and we are committed to continuing to deliver the high-quality personalized banking experience that our customers have come to expect.”

Customers of the purchased branches will receive detailed information about the transition process each step of the way. UMB will also provide direct support during this time to address any questions or concerns. For more information about the UMB’s products and services, visit the bank’s website at unitedms.bank.
