We are youth advocates who were incarcerated at the ages of 14 and 15. We don’t want the juvenile legal system to do to others what it did to us and our peers. When a juvenile under 18 comes into the justice system, the juvenile must be treated not as adult, but as a child, a kid.

Juvenile Victim in Critical Condition After Sheraden Shooting, Pittsburgh Police Investigating
Early this morning, an alarming disturbance broke the calm of the Sheraden neighborhood as authorities were rushed to a site following a ShotSpotter notification of gunfire. At approximately 6:40 a.m., officers descended on the 3100 block of Ashlyn Street, where they found a juvenile male suffering from a gunshot wound to the abdomen. The victim was promptly cared for by medics and transported to the hospital, reported to be in critical but stable condition, as reported by Pittsburgh Police press release.
