Aidee Nieves referred to prosecutors for alleged absentee ballot abuse in Bridgeport
Bridgeport, Connecticut's City Council president Aidee Nieves is one of two top Democrats named in an election law violation complaint that has been referred to state prosecutors. The complaint alleges that Nieves aggressively and repeatedly asked a voter to collect their completed absentee ballot before last year’s mayoral primary.

The recent devastating floods that hit our Valley on August 18th, 2024, will long be remembered not just for the destruction it caused but for the incredible acts of heroism and volunteerism that emerged from the chaos. Our hearts are heavy with condolences as we mourn the loss of two Valley residents, Ethelyn Joiner and Audrey Rostkowski. We also stand in solidarity with the countless families whose properties were destroyed and cherished belongings washed away. Yet, amid this tragedy, we witnessed extraordinary acts of bravery and selflessness, reminding us of the unique character of our community — what we at the Valley Community Foundation (VCF) now call “Valleyness.”
Police: Thieves tracking deliveries that contain electronic devices
NORTH HAVEN, CT (WFSB) - Police in North Haven put out a warning for people who ordered electronics online. They said thieves may be tracking deliveries in order to take the packages right after they’re delivered. The warning came after the arrest of 26-year-old Heriberto Perez-Cabral of Bronx, NY.
