    Patty Mills Joins Utah Jazz: A Reunion With Coach Will Hardy

    After completing his 15 NBA seasons with five different franchises, point guard Patty Mills enters another season of his career with Utah Jazz.

    Signing a one-year contract worth $3.3 million guaranteed for the 2024-25 season, Mills inclusion to the team will see him reuniting with Will Hardy. Hardy who is currently the head coach of Utah Jazz was priorly an assistant of the Spurs at the time Patty was their player.

    During his 10-year tenure with San Antonio Spurs, Mills received his career-high performance averaging 11.6 points, 1.6 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 66 games played for the 2019-20 season. Besides this, the point guard is a 2014 NBA Champion followed by his Sportsmanship title claimed in 2022.

    Holding a career average of 8.8 points, 1.6 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game, Mills performance at the Olympic games are also to look out for, representing the Australian team.

    Mills 3-Googles trend

    Besides gaining prominence with his on-court performance, Mills is known for creating a fashion trend in NBA since his rookie days. Drafted in 2009 by the Portland Trail Blazers, Mills along with his former teammates became quite famous for sporting 3-googles. The gesture was performed to make fun of fellow teammate Rudy Fernandez, who struggled to make any three-pointers.

    Along with Mills, Westley Matthews also did the gestures followed by Fernandez himself, every time after scoring a three. The gesture, however, received widespread popularity which saw various players displaying it. Speaking on the matter at that time, Mills quoted, “I love it. They’ve come a long way since I’ve gotten involved with them. I just don’t want to take it too far.”

    After gaining much popularity with the 3-googles trend, Mills did some others trends like ‘towel waving’ and ‘frogging’ done with the involvement of his teammates.
