Houston Rockets Named Top Trade Destination For Jimmy Butler

The Houston Rockets have one of the most talented young rosters in the NBA and may very well be one proven veteran away from becoming truly scary.

Could Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler be the player the Rockets need?

Bleacher Report’s Greg Swartz has named Butler as one of the top potential trade targets for Houston, which makes sense considering that Butler hails from H-Town.

“This core could benefit tremendously by being around Butler and his incredible work ethic, and the 34-year-old should still have a few All-Star caliber years of basketball left in him,” Swartz wrote.

Butler has one more year left on his deal before having the option to exercise his player option, and rumor has it that the six-time All-Star will decline it.

As a result, the Heat may decide that it’s best to trade Butler, especially if they get off to a rather slow start during the 2024-25 campaign.

The Houston Rockets have a ton of trade assets

If there is a perfect trade partner for the Heat, it’s the Rockets.

Houston is teeming with young talent, and it has enough of a backlog of players that it can afford to make a move for Butler without gutting its roster.

The Rockets won 41 games last season, and of their six players that averaged double figures in scoring, four of them were 21 years old or younger. The most youthful of all was Cam Whitmore, who posted 12.3 points per game at the age of 19.

Going a step further, six of Houston’s top nine scores were 22 or younger.

The Rockets can absolutely put together an impressive package of players and draft picks for Miami.
