Cleveland Cavaliers Acquire Scoring Wing In Trade Proposal With Clippers

    By Jake Rogers,

A new NBA trade scenario has emerged, proposing a deal that would send Norman Powell from the Los Angeles Clippers to the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Powell is one of the more underrated scoring wings in the NBA and would certainly be an intriguing trade candidate. In this proposal, three teams would come together with a lot of moving pieces.

Here’s a breakdown of the mock trade involving the Cavaliers, Clippers, and Chicago Bulls:

    Cavaliers receive: Norman Powell

    Clippers receive: Nikola Vucevic

Bulls receive: Caris LeVert, a 2026 second-round pick (via Cleveland), a 2028 second-round pick (via Cleveland), and a 2031 second-round pick (via Los Angeles)

Norman Powell played 76 games for the Clippers last season, delivering solid production with averages of 13.9 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game. He shot an impressive 48.6% from the field, 43.5% from three-point range, and 83.1% from the free-throw line.

The UCLA alum, who has also suited up for the Toronto Raptors and Portland Trail Blazers, holds career averages of 12.3 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.5 assists. Powell will earn $19.2 million next season. He also brings championship experience, having helped the Raptors capture the 2019 NBA title against the Golden State Warriors.

In 84 postseason appearances, Powell has averaged 9.2 points, 2.1 rebounds, and 1.0 assists.

The Cavaliers finished last season with a 48-34 record. After a hard-fought seven-game series win against the Orlando Magic in the first round, Cleveland was eliminated by the Boston Celtics in five games during the second round.

This offseason, the Cavaliers made significant changes, including firing head coach JB Bickerstaff and bringing in Kenny Atkinson on a five-year contract. Key players Donovan Mitchell, Jarrett Allen, and Evan Mobley signed extensions, while Darius Garland, despite outside interest, remained with the team.

This trade would see Cleveland part ways with Caris LeVert, who is entering the final year of his contract, set to earn $16.6 million next season. LeVert contributed 14.0 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 5.1 assists per game over 68 contests last season, while shooting 42.1% from the field and 32.5% from beyond the arc.

LeVert has been a steady performer throughout his career, which has seen him play for the Brooklyn Nets, Indiana Pacers, and Cavaliers, with career averages of 14.1 points, 3.9 rebounds, and 4.1 assists.

In this proposal, Cleveland would aim to add a potent scorer in Powell, while the Clippers land a seasoned center in Vucevic, and the Bulls acquire draft capital and a versatile wing in LeVert.

All three teams would add pieces that would fit their goals for the future. It’s just a suggestion and idea, but it’s one that would potentially make sense.
