Chicago Bulls Linked To Trade For This Los Angeles Lakers Star

The Chicago Bulls are in flux at the moment. They lost DeMar DeRozan to NBA free agency, and there was rampant speculation they could trade Zach LaVine earlier in the offseason.

The question is, what are the Bulls going to do for offense if they ultimately move LaVine?

Bleacher Report’s Eric Pincus has a potential answer: Los Angeles Lakers guard D’Angelo Russell.

Russell has been well-traveled throughout his NBA career. He is currently in his second stint with the Lakers and is coming off of a 2023-24 campaign in which he averaged 18 points and 6.3 assists over 32.7 minutes per game on 45.6/41.5/82.8 shooting splits.

He has played for four teams since entering the league in 2015, but it’s not like he hasn’t been productive. Over the course of his professional tenure, Russell has registered 17.8 points and 5.8 assists a night.

The problem for Russell is on the defensive end, but right now, Chicago needs offense.

The Chicago Bulls need some more offensive oomph

The Bulls ranked 18th in the NBA in offensive efficiency last season, and while that isn’t terrible, it’s important to keep in mind that that came with DeRozan.

Now that DeRozan is gone, Chicago will be searching for answers.

Coby White is still on board and is certainly trending upward, and the Bulls have Nikola Vucevic up front. But otherwise, scoring will be hard to come by if they trade LaVine.

Russell isn’t exactly a prospect anymore. He is 28 years old, and he essentially is what he is at this point. However, he is a proven scorer and has been moderately efficient over the last couple of seasons.

We’ll see if the Chicago Bulls decide to make a play for him.
