Kevin Durant, a long-time NBA 2K enthusiast, didn’t hold back when reacting to his player rating in the latest edition of the popular basketball video game, NBA 2K25.

Despite his strong performance on the court last season, Durant’s rating dropped from a 96 overall in NBA 2K24 to a 94 in the new game. The drop places Durant ninth among the game’s top 10 players—below stars like Nikola Jokic, Luka Dončić, and Giannis Antetokounmpo—all rated at 97.

Durant’s frustration with his rating was evident in a video trailer for his latest Boardroom episode , where he played a game of NBA 2K25 against New York Jets All-Pro cornerback Sauce Gardner. In the clip, Durant expressed his disappointment. “I’m a 94? That’s crazy. Sick of that s—,” he said in disbelief.

Though ranked among the top 10, Durant expected more. “That’s crazy, though. I’m a 94, though? Like for real though, that’s crazy. I’ma have to get on somebody’s a– about that,” he added, showcasing his dissatisfaction.

A Legacy with NBA 2K and Durant’s Evolving Role

Kevin Durant’s relationship with NBA 2K is a long one. He has been featured on the cover of the game multiple times, including for NBA 2K13 and 2K15. His passion for the game remains strong, and he continues to enjoy playing it regularly. “Since PlayStation Sega like always, enjoy playing basketball games. So to see the evolution of 2K, be on the cover; every year I am locked in, I am in the park. I am doing all of it, every game mode I am playing, so it has really become a part of my life to be honest,” Durant said during a recent Boardroom podcast.

Even with his rating dip, Durant remains one of the most effective virtual players in NBA 2K25. He boasts a 94 overall rating with a 2-Way Scoring Phenom build and is equipped with 21 badges—2 at Hall of Fame level and 9 at Gold level. His mid-range shooting is particularly elite, rated at 97, while his three-point shot is also dangerous with a 92 rating, making him a versatile offensive weapon.

While Durant sits at 94 overall, Denver Nuggets’ MVP Nikola Jokic leads NBA 2K25 with a 97 rating, followed by Luka Dončić (97) and Giannis Antetokounmpo (97). Durant also took note of the drop in his Phoenix Suns teammate Devin Booker’s rating, which now stands at 93—just outside the top 10. Though Durant may be disappointed, he continues to dominate NBA 2K25, both as a player on the virtual court and as a key figure in the game’s community.
