Phoenix Suns Linked To Trade For Chicago Bulls Guard

Things did not exactly go as planned for the Phoenix Suns last NBA season. They built a super team on paper, acquiring Bradley Beal to put alongside of Kevin Durant and Devin Booker.

However, the Suns won just 49 games and were then swept by the Minnesota Timberwolves in the first round of the playoffs.

Due to financial restrictions, there really isn’t much Phoenix can do as far as adjusting its roster. It did sign Tyus Jones in free agency, which was a solid move, but beyond that, the Suns are limited.

Bleacher Report’s Eric Pincus, however, does see one viable trade target for Phoenix: Chicago Bulls guard Jevon Carter.

Carter definitely isn’t flashy, but he is a solid bench piece who could provide some nice scoring pop off the bench for the Suns.

This past year, the 28-year-old played in 72 games and averaged five points in 13.9 minutes a night while shooting 37.8 percent from the floor. Those obviously aren’t great numbers, but Carter is two seasons removed from registering eight points per game while making 42.1 percent of his three-pointers as a member of the Milwaukee Bucks.

Unless Phoenix wants to completely retool its roster, a player like Carter may be the best the team can do.

How good can the Phoenix Suns be next season?

Again, on paper, the Suns look fantastic, but unfortunately for them, the game isn’t played on paper.

Phoenix had all of the talent in the world entering the 2023-24 campaign, but shoddy defense and miserable fourth-quarter efficiency led to a horrendously disappointing season.

The problem for the Suns is that it seems hard to imagine things getting any better this year.

Durant is another year older, and while Beal and Booker posted great individual numbers last season, they just don’t seem to fit as teammates.

Perhaps Jones can help stabilize things as an extra ball-handler, but more than likely, Phoenix will have difficulty competing with the tough teams in the Western Conference.
