Golden State Warriors Receive Rough Take On Potential Blockbuster Trade

The Golden State Warriors have made multiple attempts to acquire a star player this NBA offseason, but they have failed on all fronts.

But there is still time for the Warriors to make a move, even it it happens during the regular season.

However, Bleacher Report’s Andy Bailey does not think New York Knicks big man Julius Randle is the way to go.

Bailey states that Golden State would be the worst possible fit for Randle, questioning whether or not Randle’s style would fit into the Warriors’ uptempo offense.

“Again, the Warriors probably just need to make any kind of talent play this offseason, but trading for Randle isn’t the one to make,” Bailey wrote. “He’s productive, but it wouldn’t get much more ‘square peg in a round hole’ than Randle’s ground-and-pound game in Golden State’s read-and-react offense.”

Randle played in just 46 games with the Knicks last season due to a shoulder injury that ultimately required surgery. During his time on the court, he averaged 24 points, 9.2 rebounds and five assists a night on 47.2/31.1/78.1 shooting splits.

The Golden State Warriors are in a tough spot

Golden State has some very intriguing young talent, but the problem is that its window to win a championship with Stephen Curry may be closing.

Curry is already 36 years old, and while he was brilliant in the Olympics and was really good last season, he does seem to be declining.

The question is whether or not the Warriors want to go all in with Curry or continue developing their young players. If they choose to go the former route, guys like Jonathan Kuminga, Brandin Podziemski and Trayce Jackson-Davis will represent prime trade candidates.

Golden State is in clear need of another scorer alongside of Curry, especially after the departure of Klay Thompson. There is always the chance that one of the Dubs’ young guys can really break out next season, but on paper, the Warriors look like a fringe playoff team at the moment.
