Lakers’ LeBron James Teases Bold Next Career Move After NBA

LeBron James may be eyeing a future in broadcasting once his playing days are over. As the NBA superstar enters his 22nd season with two years left on his contract, it’s clear that retirement is on the horizon. While his career has been defined by dominance on the court, he’s beginning to explore what his next chapter might look like.

During a recent appearance on the Golic and Gojo podcast, James discussed the possibility of transitioning to a broadcasting role after he retires. When asked about the potential move, James admitted it could be an exciting opportunity, though he’s not ready to make any commitments.

“You know, I don’t know — I definitely love the sport,” he said. “I love basketball, I love football. And I watch it not only as a fan but also just breaking down matchups, just things of that nature… It would be great. I see Tom Brady doing it. He’s been great so far. And, we will see. Even if it’s just a guest appearance. You know, one game or two, when I’m done playing.”

James also hinted that his post-retirement ventures might not be limited to basketball. With his deep appreciation for sports, he could see himself getting involved in football as well. “The game has given me so much,” he added. “So if it’s basketball, if it’s football, if it’s whatever — I love the word ‘sport’ because it’s given so much to me and my family, and it’s only right I give back to it.”

The comparison to Tom Brady is noteworthy. After two decades as the face of the NFL, Brady has now transitioned to a full-time broadcasting career, staying closely connected to the game. James, however, doesn’t seem to be pursuing such an extensive role. Instead, he might prefer something more flexible, similar to the approach taken by the Manning brothers or former New England Patriots coach Bill Belichick, who both maintain a presence in sports media without the grind of daily involvement.

James already has some experience in media, with his podcast alongside J.J. Redick providing a glimpse into his ability to analyze and discuss the game. In addition to his on-court aspirations, he has dabbled in sports ownership, which could also be a direction he chooses to pursue after retirement.

While broadcasting remains a possibility, it’s clear that LeBron’s options are wide open as he contemplates his life beyond basketball. Whether it’s guest appearances or something more substantial, his love for sports will undoubtedly keep him involved in the world he’s excelled in for over two decades.
