Former Superstar Drops Big Take On Chris Paul Joining San Antonio Spurs

The San Antonio Spurs have made a significant addition to their roster by signing veteran point guard Chris Paul to a one-year contract during NBA free agency.

Paul will join forces with young sensation Victor Wembanyama and play under the guidance of the legendary head coach Gregg Popovich.

Former NBA champion Paul Pierce recently appeared on “Undisputed” to discuss the impact of this move.

Pierce emphasized how valuable Paul’s presence will be for Wembanyama, the promising young star.

“Every young star needs a valuable vet in the locker room.”

Entering his 20th NBA season, Paul brings a wealth of experience that can be instrumental in the development of the French center, who is about to start his second season.

Having led the league in blocks as a rookie last year, Wembanyama already averages over 20 points and 10 rebounds per game. With Paul’s mentorship, he can evolve into an even more well-rounded player on both ends of the court.

Paul’s experience will enhance Wembanyama’s communication and pick-and-roll skills.

The combination of Popovich’s and Paul’s basketball intelligence is another intriguing element, even if San Antonio isn’t expected to contend for a championship this season.

Last season, the Spurs won just 22 games, and while the 39-year-old Paul might not dramatically shift their fortunes, his game knowledge and leadership can infuse the young roster with much-needed veteran presence and experience.

It will be interesting to see what ends up happening with the San Antonio Spurs during the 2024-25 NBA season. Chris Paul could be the piece that helps push them back towards playoff contention.
