An airplane carrying 57 passengers and four crew members crashed in Brazil on Friday, killing everyone on board, the airline operating the flight said. The Voepass Linhas Aéreas flight took off from Cascavel and was headed to the São Paulo-Guarulhos International Airport when it crashed, according to an earlier statement from Voepass Linhas Aéreas.

SAO PAULO (AP) — Brazil’s government kicked out Nicaragua’s ambassador Thursday in retaliation for a similar move by the Central American country’s President Daniel Ortega. Brazil’s foreign ministry said it had decided to expel Nicaraguan Ambassador Fulvia Patricia Castro Matu in “application of the principle of reciprocity to the measure adopted by the Nicaraguan government about the Brazilian ambassador in Managua.” The ministry’s statement said Brazil’s Ambassador Breno da Costa has already left the country.  Nicaragua’s government said both the Nicaraguan and the Brazilian ambassadors have left their positions, but did not mention they were kicked out or elaborate on the reasons for those moves. A rift between Ortega and Brazil’s President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, two former allies, has grown over the last year.

A Sukhoi Superjet 100 passenger plane crashed Friday outside Moscow, killing all three crew members on board, according to Russian state news agency TASS. The crash reportedly happened during a test flight, when no passengers were on board. Authorities are investigating what caused the fatal incident.  The crash comes after a series of issues with Russia’s flagship plane, which was developed by the Russian aerospace company Sukhoi Civil Aircraft and was the first all-new commercial Russian aircraft produced after the end of the Soviet Union. In May 2012, a Sukhoi Superjet 100 jet was on a demonstration flight in Indonesia when it crashed into Mount Salak, killing all 45 people aboard.
