COLUMBUS, Ohio ( WCMH ) — Now that Ohioans can legally purchase recreational marijuana, ensuring the safety of local dispensary products is key, so NBC4 got a behind the scenes look.

Everything that Ohio cannabis company Beneleaves makes gets triple tested, company representatives said. Executives with the company said their goal is to create quality medicine for Ohioans.

“We were catering to about like 160,000 patients in Ohio,” Beneleaves President Bill Williams said. “And now, you know, you could be talking about 2 million people that can go in and can shop.”

Beneleaves is a small company owned by family and friends. Company leaders said they work to create a wide variety of safe and affordable products for medical cannabis patients.

“We manufacture processed goods such as edibles, vape cart topicals and a variety of cannabis products that we dispense to local dispensaries throughout the state of Ohio,” Broderick Randle, the Vice President of Sales, said. “We really care about what we put out there to the people.”

One thing the company focuses on is product labeling. Executives said labeling is important because it helps the patient better understand what they’re getting. For instance, Beneleaves representatives showed NBC4 their QR codes on each label. The code takes customers to the testing results, which helps them further understand everything in the product.

“More awareness, more accessibility and more people getting relief and feeling better,” Randle said.

NBC4 got a behind the scenes look at it all, following the process from the extraction, to the work in the kitchen, to the sorting and, last but not least, the packaging.

Now that recreational cannabis is legal, Randle said he sees Beneleves growing.

“We do see that moving forward, there will be an uptick in our production,” Randle said.

Ohioans must be 21 years old or older to purchase, but if legal-aged customers would like a look behind the scenes yourself, Beneleaves invites anyone to sign up for a tour.

Executives said they do offer tours to be as transparent as possible in order to best serve their patients.
