    Woman, 43, dead after being hit by a pickup truck in southwest Columbus

    COLUMBUS, Ohio ( WCMH ) — A 43-year-old woman is dead after being hit by a pickup truck overnight Saturday on the far southwest side of Columbus.

    According to police, the woman was walking in the middle of Norton Road’s northbound lanes near Bolton Airport Road. At the same time, a Toyota Tundra was going north on Norton Road and hit the pedestrian on the road, per police.

    Medics arrived and pronounced the woman dead at 1:04 a.m. The driver of the Toyota remained at the scene as the Columbus police accident investigation unit is continuing to investigate the crash.

    I go down that stretch of Norton Road sometimes after Dark. There are constantly people walking along the road or biking with dark clothing on. there's hardly a edge to walk along on either side of the road. You don't see them until you're right on top of them. on a couple locations I swerved into the oncoming Lane to avoid them. You'd think they'd have enough sense to wear something white or reflective.
