Adoptable Ohio dog isn’t letting leg injury keep him down

COLUMBUS, Ohio ( WCMH ) — Miles, a dog at the Franklin County Dog Shelter and Adoption Center, is looking for a foster home that could potentially become his permanent family.

Behavior Coordinator Brandy Trott said that Miles needs a foster because he has a fracture in his back leg, and the shelter intends to give him the medical care to fix it. Once his leg is healed, that foster could either bring him back to the shelter or permanently adopt him.

But despite his injury, Trott said no one would know the 1-year-old pit bull mix had the fracture without her saying so.

“He has lots of pep in his step. It doesn’t seem to really bother him that much, but we want him to have a pain-free life,” Trott said. “We are going to do the repair, but he needs a foster or a foster-to-adopt first.”

Miles already knows sit, and his food and toy motivation would allow him to easily pick up additional tricks. Despite his leg injury, he could be a great partner for walks around the neighborhood or a hike.

Miles is available for meet-and-greets at the Franklin County Dog Shelter , located at 4340 Tamarack Blvd. in Columbus. Below are some additional dogs up for adoption as well:
