FRANKLIN COUNTY, Ohio ( WCMH ) – New music just released by a central Ohio musician played a key note in his recovery journey.

Josh Krajcik’s new ablum is titled, “EPIPHANIAC.”

“I made that word up. But it was like constant epiphanies about my own self,” he said. “And I’ve become a better person through making this record. That process of becoming a better person and healing is now placed in the sonics.”

The musician was deep in a battle with an alcohol addiction before creating this album. He said the damage it caused to his body almost took his life, and he went to the hospital for help. On the day he left the hospital in 2019, he started working on the album.

“I had sort of come to that wall. That experience of almost losing my life and the spookiness that is, and it’s difficult to describe, was honestly and I didn’t know at the time I just started writing was the inspiration for the record,” Krajcik said.

The eight songs he recorded at Oranjudio are personal. He said they are about his road to recovery, including the unknowns and sometimes scary moments. He said the time in the hospital and onward was difficult, but described it as a journey he’s glad he took.

“This is about being in that hospital. This is about that worry — worried I won’t be there in the morning and what that means for my loved ones,” he said. “That energy is throughout the whole thing so its a bit like sticking my head up out of the shadows to see the light and that happens on this record.”

While everyone’s journeys are different, Krajcik credited creating this album with saving his life, and he’s hoping it can save others too.

“This is my ultimate dream that this record could help somebody have the thought that brings them to their own epiphany that they need,” he said. “I hope somebody who might feel similar to me will see that and recognize the light is there even if dim and to beacon to it — to go to it as if it’s a beacon. That’s what I did anyway.”
