    Person dies after construction accident near Ohio elementary school

    WESTERVILLE, Ohio ( WCMH ) — One person is dead after a construction accident near an elementary school.

    There was a large police presence near the softball field at Alcott Elementary School in Genoa Township for an incident called in around 1:30 p.m. Thursday. The accident resulted in the death of a person that Genoa Township police believed to be a private contractor, though it’s not yet clear what company they worked for.

    The accident involved construction equipment, according to police, who said the victim may have been grading the infield of the softball field when it occurred.

    Genoa Township Police Chief James McMillin said the victim was not associated with the township or school and that there is, “no threat to the public” and “no danger to the public.” Despite the incident, classes at Alcott Elementary continued as scheduled.
