    Suspect in OSU shooting, kidnapping near Bexley in custody

    COLUMBUS, Ohio ( WCMH ) — The suspect wanted in connection with a shooting on Ohio State University’s campus was arrested Tuesday near a big box store just over a mile away.

    Richard James Patridge, 31, was arrested at the Lennox Town Center less than 24 hours after he allegedly shot a man in an altercation Monday night near the intersection of John Herrick Drive and Olentangy River Road.

    Patridge and the shooting victim are both members of the homeless community, according to Ohio State University Campus Police. Police said neither Patridge nor the victim were members of the Ohio State University community.

    University police confirmed Patridge’s arrest in an updated safety alert .

    The victim of the shooting was last reported to be in stable condition Monday night. According to court records, the victim was shot in the upper leg.

    Columbus police have been searching for Patridge since Sept. 4, after he was accused of kidnapping a woman outside of Bexley.

    Patridge has multiple active felony warrants, not including possible charges from the shooting, and was previously seen riding a motorcycle.

    Patridge has been charged with felonious assault in connection with the shooting.
