COLUMBUS, Ohio ( WCMH ) — Four juveniles are in custody and Columbus Police say they are looking for two more suspects in connection to an armed carjacking Sunday.

On Wednesday, police released body camera footage of the chase for the suspects. The teens crashed that car near the Ohio Statehouse around 7:30 p.m.

“I walked out of the corner store and a group of boys walked up to me with like four or five guns,” the victim said in a 911 call. “They took my car, my wallet, everything.”

Columbus police said the incident happened around 6:30 p.m. at East Main Street and Lilley Avenue. Police were able to locate the car 30 minutes later near East 5th Avenue and Peter Avenue.

In the body camera footage, the suspects can be seen driving when police pull up behind them. They go on to lead police on a chase across the city for about 30 minutes, with the stolen car blowing through red lights, stop signs, and over speed bumps.

Police attempted to catch and stop the car several times. Police say the suspect car crashed into a parked car on East Broad Street. Officers then chased after the suspects on foot.

Two 14-year-old and two 15-year-old boys were taken into custody.

On Thursday, police said they are searching for two more suspects in the incident.

New data from Columbus Police shows there have been more than 5,000 stolen vehicles in the city this year from January to August. Police were not able to say how many of these incidents involved juveniles.

Data also shows that as of Monday, there are 162 suspects under the age of 17 in felonious assault cases so far this year. Data shows in all of 2023, there were 155 juvenile suspects in felony assault cases.

Columbus Police ask anyone with information about the two suspects to call 614-645-4545.
