Food magazine finds Columbus is among top five pizza-obsessed cities in world

COLUMBUS, Ohio ( WCMH ) – A food magazine has named Columbus as one of the most pizza-obsessed cities in the world.

In honor of National Pizza Month, the magazine Chef’s Pencil analyzed Google Trends from September 2019 through September 2024 to see which cities had the highest percentage of pizza-related Google searches, relative to all local searches.

Pizza-related searches include everything from looking up the best local pies to pizza chains, recipes and ovens, according to the magazine. In the list of the most pizza-obsessed cities in the world, Columbus placed at No. 4.

“Columbus, Ohio, surprisingly ranks fourth in the world, ahead of Rome, Chicago and Milan,” the magazine stated. “Known for its very own Columbus-style pizza, a unique square-cut, thin-crust pizza, the city’s pizza culture is strong and diverse.”

Ranking above Columbus were Philadelphia; Naples, Italy; and Turin, Italy. After Columbus and completing the top 10 were Rome; Boston; Milan, Italy; Copenhagen, Denmark and Indianapolis (tied at No. 8), and Chicago at No. 10.
