COLUMBUS, Ohio ( WCMH ) — A record crowd packed into Ohio State’s Covelli Center on Saturday afternoon to see the Buckeyes play women’s volleyball in a match televised by NBC.

But the result may not have been what many of the 4,156 in attendance wanted, with the Buckeyes falling in straight sets to second-ranked Nebraska.

Rylee Rader helped Ohio State (8-10, 1-7 Big Ten) take a 5-3 lead in the first set with a kill that marked the 1,000th of the graduate student’s career. But the Cornhuskers (18-1, 8-0) rattled off five straight points on the way to an 11-7 lead and won the first set 25-18. The second set was decided by the same score, the third was 25-16.

Emily Londot had 16 kills, and Mia Tuman and Kamiah Gibson 10 assists per set each for the Buckeyes. Tuman also had eight digs, as did Olivia Hasbrook.

Murray Harper had 14 kills and Merrit Beason 13 to lead Nebraska.

It wasn’t the Buckeyes’ largest home crowd of the season. Last week, they played at Value City Arena, where 8,844 watched them fall to Michigan in four sets.
