COLUMBUS, Ohio ( WCMH ) – An analysis by Google has uncovered the top-trending Halloween costumes this year in Columbus and across the country.

Google’s “Frightgeist” website has found the top-trending costumes on the search engine for 2024, both overall in the United States and in metropolitan areas across America. The website’s definition of “top-trending” includes costume ideas that experienced the biggest increase in search interest compared to last year, not the top-searched costume ideas overall.

In the Columbus area, the top-trending costume this year is Taylor Swift. The pop singer is followed by Disney character Perry the Platypus, Princess Peach from Nintendo’s Mario franchise, Shadow from the Sonic the Hedgehog series and a cat.

List: 2024 Trick-or-Treat dates, times in central Ohio

The top trending costumes nationwide can be found below.

    1. Shrunken Head Bob (movie character from “Beetlejuice”)
    2. Raygun (Australian breakdancing Olympian)
    3. Catnap (video game character from “Poppy Playtime”)
    4. Delores (movie character from “Beetlejuice Beetlejuice”)
    5. Pomni (TV show character from “The Amazing Digital Circus”)
    6. Envy (movie character from “Inside Out 2”)
    7. Red (movie character from “Descendants: Rise of Red”)
    8. Dr. Doom (Marvel comic book character)
    9. Sabrina Carpenter (pop singer)
    10. Lady Deadpool (Marvel comic book character)

The platform also collected data on the top-trending kid costumes, dog costumes and duo costumes, with “Red” (“Descendants: Rise of Red”), “Dogpool” (an alternate-universe dog-version of Deadpool) and “Deadpool and Wolverine” topping the lists, respectively.

Google began collecting data for its 2024 Frightgeist guide in September 2023. The results of its lists, based on year-over-year interest, “aim to give a unique look into how people are preparing for the Halloween season,” according to Google.
