Little League All-Star Tournament underway
SPRINGFIELD, KY — The 11/12 Little League Baseball All-Star Tournament began on Sunday, June 30. After a rain delay, Washington County 11/12 All-Star team played Nelson County. The final score was Nelson County 2 and Washington County 1. Anderson Saucedo was starting pitcher. He allowed two hits and one run over two innings, striking out four and walking two. Kayson Mattingly was relief pitcher, allowing one run on four hits, striking out four and walking one. Ty Coulter hit the ball to right field to get the one run in. Anderson Saucedo was named MVP for Washington County for the opening game and Liam Spalding was named MVP for Nelson County team. Washington County 11/12 All-Stars played again on Tuesday, July 1, at 5:30 p.m. against Marion County. The winner will play consecutive days with the Tournament Championship being on Thursday, July 4, at 12:00 p.m.

Pedestrian hit, killed in Monday night accident
Kentucky State Police (KSP) responded to a single-vehicle fatal collision involving a pedestrian in Nelson Co. Monday night. On July 8, at approximately 10:45 p.m., KSP Post 4 received a call from Nelson County Dispatch requesting assistance in investigating a fatal collision involving a pedestrian near the 4000 block of Louisville Road (U.S. 150) just north of Bardstown.
Pedestrian struck, killed on highway near Bardstown
A 23-year-old Bardstown man walking along U.S. 150 was killed in a single-vehicle collision Monday night in Nelson County. Kentucky State Police said its preliminary investigation revealed that a 2014 KIA Forte, driven by Langleigh Winters, 19, of Bardstown, was traveling north just outside the city when the vehicle struck a pedestrian in the northbound lane. The pedestrian later was identified as Matt Berry, of Bardstown.
