Danville City Council salaries triple to meet state standards
Members of Danville’s City Council will see a pay increase beginning in July 2025, thanks to changes made in the General Assembly. “The maximum pay under the state law is based on a city’s population,” said Danville Public Information Officer Arnold Hendrix. “For a city of Danville’s size, the mayor is now allowed a salary of $37,000. City council members are allowed a salary of $34,000.”
Man stabbed at least twice seeks help at nearby Raleigh grocery store, police say
RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — A man was taken to a nearby hospital after he was stabbed at least twice in Raleigh late Saturday morning, police said. The incident was reported around 11:20 a.m. along the 2000 block of Milburnie Road just east of N. Raleigh Boulevard, according to the Raleigh Police Department.
Rabies notice issued in Wake County after fox bites woman
A rabies notice was issued in Wake County after a fox bit a woman Thursday in Knightdale.It happened in a neighborhood near the corner of Kemp Drive and Hodge Road. According to Wake County, the woman attempted to break up a fight between the fox and a cat.Wake County Public Health and Wake County Animal Control confirmed the fox was captured and later tested positive for rabies.The cat involved has not been located yet.No other incidents have been reported in connection with the fox or cat. Capitol Region Military Alliance of Virginia First Inaugural Business Meeting Held
On July 11, America's newest military advisory council, known as the Capitol Region Military Alliance of Virginia, held its inaugural meeting. The event brought together business leaders, government officials, military personnel, military service organizations, educators, and civic leaders to support national defense and enhance the quality of life in our region. CaRMA serves the three military installations of Fort Gregg-Adams, Fort Barfoot, and Defense Supply Center - Richmond, and brings business, government, military, military service organizations, education, civic leaders together to support national defense and quality of life for the region. The initiative is supported by the three installations, the Commonwealth of Virginia, the Crater Planning District Commission, local governments that surround the installations, and chambers of commerce that serve the region. CaRMA-VA is a start-up organization chartered on February 1, 2024.
