NELSONVILLE — Athens County Job and Family Services recently celebrated its newest office at 10 W. Washington St., Nelsonville, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The Tuesday event was attended by Athens County Department of Job and Family Services Executive Director Jean Demosky, Athens County Commissioners Charlie Adkins, Chris Chmiel and Lenny Eliason and members of the Athens and Nelsonville chambers of commerce.

Building will open to the public on Monday and will be a resource center for both Job and Family Services and OhioMeansJobs-Athens County services. Partner office space available for other social service agencies.

Demosky states the vision for Athens County Community Cares Resource Center is that "community partners will collaborate to provide comprehensive social services, information and referrals to any individual in need of assistance in Athens County in order to eliminate barriers and enhance their overall quality of life.”

Besides the ribbon-cutting ceremony, the agency's new Mobile Career Center was onsite for tours and the launch of its Digital Literacy Class for seniors. The center will have an official open house from 8 a.m.-noon July 9 at 510 W. Union St., Athens.

The agency's vision for the Mobile Career Center is to provide onsite employer hiring events, job fairs, educational opportunities and connecting the county’s job seekers with local opportunities.
