Kalah Russell, Director of Retail, remarked that, “I’ve worked at Goodwill for 10 years and this is our 10th store opening, so it really feels like the culmination of the work I’ve done so far. I’m looking forward to working with our new employees at Nelsonville and being part of the wonderful community that locals and fellow organizations have fostered.”

The Nelsonville Grand Opening marks a significant milestone in the nonprofit's mission to empower individuals and strengthen communities. While most people think of Goodwill as a retail store, its primary focus is providing free services to the communities it serves. These services include Adult Day Supports, Activities and Training Centers, Workforce Development, and Summer Youth Employment.

Every donation and purchase directly supports the communities Goodwill serves.

Chief Executive Officer Marvin Jones looks forward to the store’s grand opening and presence in the Nelsonville community after having a store nearby in Athens for 16 years, saying: “We are always looking at opportunities to expand our network and Nelsonville presents a chance to do just that. We're pleased we'll be a part of a great community that has so much going for it.”

Goodwill of South Central Ohio is a nonprofit with donated goods retail and business services divisions in eight southern Ohio counties — Athens, Fayette, Hocking, Jackson, Pickaway, Pike, Ross, and Vinton.
