NESCOPECK, LUZERNE COUNTY (WBRE/WYOU) — Preparations are underway ahead of a three-day music festival at a farm in Luzerne County.

The Blues is more than just a genre at the Briggs Farm in Nescopeck. To Bobby Kelchner and Alison Briggs, it’s part of everyday life.

“The blues touches your soul,” says Briggs. “It has broadened our lives and our family’s lives tremendously.”

The duo is working around the clock, getting ready for its 27th annual Briggs Farm Blues Festival.

“We’re extremely busy right now. Just getting the grounds set, we bring in a great sound production company so I’m working with them to make sure all of our backline is set, all the gear that the bands need, we provide a lot of that gear for them,” says Kelchner.

The three-day event draws in thousands from all across our nation, to share the love of music on a local farm that has deep, passionate roots.

“We’re very proud of where we are and the heritage of our farm, this farm has been in the family and been a working farm for over 200 years,” says Briggs.

A lineup of acts is set to fill the stage into the weekend. Whether dancing, sitting around a fire, or camping, organizers hope the love of the Blues will bring everyone together.

Kelchner says, “You can come here as a solo traveler and meet friends that will inevitably become family over the years.”

The Briggs Farm Blues Festival pre-party kicks off at 6 p.m. on Thursday, with the gates opening at 11 a.m. on Friday and Saturday.
