Water reduction mandate to be considered by Grass Valley City Council
The emergency water shortage continues in Nevada County, and extreme hot temperatures are straining conservation efforts and quickly depleting the limited local water resources. The city council of Grass Valley will consider a mandated 20% conservation from all city customers who use treated drinking water and raw water for irrigation.

NEVADA COUNTY, Calif. — Two people drowned along the Yuba River in Nevada County Thursday afternoon. According to the Nevada County Consolidated Fire District, the first drowning was reported around 1:30 p.m. in the area of Highway 49 and the Yuba River, in the South Yuba River Recreation Area. Officials said the person went into the water, but didn't resurface.
