The Commanders were without a kicker for less than 48 hours, as the team announced Tuesday they have signed kicker Ramiz Ahmed.

Ahmed last played this spring with the Birmingham Stallions in the UFL, replacing injured kicked Chris Blewitt and going 10-for-13 on field goal attempts.

Ahmed went undrafted out of Nevada in 2020, where he was 15-for-20 on field goals and 40-of-44 on PATs in two seasons after joining the team as a walk-on, and signed a three-year deal with the Bears that summer, but he was waived in training camp.

His only NFL action to date was handling kickoffs for the Packers for one game in November 2022, and long kicks are his claim to fame – he set the record for the longest field goal in the history of the USFL pre-merger, kicking a 61-yarder back in 2022 while with the Pittsburgh Maulers.

Ahmed of course replaces Brandon McManus, who was signed to a one-year deal earlier this off-season but was released on Sunday, less than a week after news surfaced that he was named in a lawsuit by two flight attendants alleging sexual misconduct on a Jaguars team flight to London last season.
