RFK Jr. submits signatures to be on Nevada ballot

Robert Kennedy Jr.’s presidential campaign says it has submitted enough signatures in Nevada to qualify for the November ballot.

Kennedy’s campaign said in a news release Friday it submitted some 30,000 signatures on Wednesday, ahead of the state’s July 5 deadline. The signatures will have to be verified by the counties and state.

It’s the second time Kennedy has submitted signatures for ballot access. In March, the state rejected his effort because as an independent candidate, he was required by state law to include a vice presidential candidate on the petition. With this second time of signatures, attorney and entrepreneur Nicole Shanahan is listed as his running mate.

Kennedy’s campaign has suggested Secretary of State Francisco Aguilar, a Democrat, invented rules to keep him off the ballot. Aguilar acknowledged in late March that his office provided Kennedy’s campaign with inaccurate information earlier in the year, but he said it was an error not intended to harm any political party or candidate for office and that the campaign was ultimately still responsible for not following the law.

“The voters of Nevada have, for a second time, demonstrated their enthusiasm and determination to place Kennedy on Nevada’s general election ballot,” Kennedy Campaign Senior Counsel Paul Rossi said in a news release. “The campaign will continue to vigorously defend the rights of Nevada voters to cast their ballots for Kennedy against the continued frivolous effort by the infirmed Biden campaign to strike us from the ballot.”

The campaign says Kennedy, who has made it on the ballot in a handful of states, intends to be  on the ballot in all 50 states and has $15 million in funding to get it done by the end of July.
