Biden tests positive for Covid while in Vegas for NAACP speech as concerns over his future mount: Live

President Joe Biden , 81, has tested positive for Covid while on the campaign trail.

The president was due to speak at the UnidosUS Annual Conference in Nevada on Wednesday evening before the news was announced.

A statement from the White House confirmed the news and said that the president would be returning home to Delaware to self-isolate in accordance with CDC guidelines, but would continue to carry out all of his duties “fully” during that time.

Biden has conducted multiple campaign events, including rallies and press interviews across the country throughout the week.

In an interview on Tuesday, he said that he would consider dropping out of the 2024 election if he was diagnosed with a “medical condition” by a doctor, remarks that come as questions over his health, mental fitness, and future continue to grow.

Even as US California Rep. Adam Schiff joined the chorus of people clamoring for Biden to step aside, the Democratic National Committee is said to be moving ahead with plans to virtually nominate Biden ahead of the party’s convention in August.

Biden’s ongoing setbacks come as Donald Trump continues his victory lap at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, this week after selecting his running mate JD Vance.
