    These real estate markets have seen as much as a 14% jump in price over the past year. That’s quite a leap, considering home prices are up only 4.3% on average in the United States.

    Macon County, Georgia

    Macon County saw a tremendous 20.43% year-over-year increase in home prices. The county’s biggest city is Montezuma, a place with just under 3,000 people. Montezuma is about two hours south of Atlanta. The median cost of a home in Macon County is $103,974. To compare, the median home price in Georgia is $366,000, and the state as a whole saw a 4.6% increase in price since last year.

    Grundy County, Missouri

    Talk about a major increase. Grundy County saw a year-over-year home price increase of 19.29%. The biggest city in the county is Trenton, which has a population of only 5,626. The city saw massive growth over the past year. The median home price is $84,634.

    Vernon County, Missouri

    Another Missouri mention on the list is Vernon County, which saw a 17.19% year-over-year price increase. The biggest city in Vernon County is Nevada, which has about 8,200 people. Nevada is about an hour and a half south of Kansas City, Missouri. The median home price in Vernon County is $149,018.

    Clinch County, Georgia

    Clinch County saw a year-over-year increase of 16.86%. The county’s biggest city is Homerville, which is about 2 1/2 hours southwest of Savannah. The median home price in Clinch County is $107,317.

    Fayette County, West Virginia

    Fayette County is where you’ll find Oak City — the county’s largest city. Prices in the county increased by 16.22% over the past year, bringing the median home price to $115,992.

    Garfield County, Montana

    The small but mighty county of Garfield saw a 15.9% price increase in homes over the past year. The median home price is $277,343. The biggest town in Garfield County is Jordan, although Jordan has only about 350 people.

    Kiowa County, Colorado

    The biggest town in Kiowa County is Eads, which is about two hours east of Colorado Springs and has fewer than 1,000 people. However, this county did see a fair amount of growth over the past year. The year-over-year home price change was 15.63%, bringing the median home price to $146,860.

    McPherson County, Nebraska

    Thinking about location, Tryon (the largest town in McPherson County) is about an hour and a half northwest of Lexington, Nebraska. McPherson County saw a 15.19% year-over-year price change and has a median home price of $300,313.

    Lafayette County, Mississippi

    Lafayette County is home to Oxford, where the University of Mississippi is. The college town has seen a 14.88% year-over-year home price change. The median home price right now is $323,727.

    Ford County, Kansas

    You might have heard of Dodge City, the biggest city in Ford County. Dodge City has a population of 27,514. Ford County saw a 14.7% year-over-year price increase. The median home price is $194,866 in Ford County.

    Scott County, Virginia

    Gate City is the largest city you’ll find in Scott County, with a population of just over 2,000. Scott County experienced a 14.41% year-over-year price increase. The median home price in Scott County is $163,881.

    Stewart County, Georgia

    Many counties in Georgia saw big jumps in price this past year. Stewart County saw a 14.18% jump. Stewart County is a very small county, with only about 4,600 people in the county total. The county is about two hours south of Atlanta. The median price for a home in Stewart County is just $65,400.

    Hartford County, Connecticut

    Home to Connecticut’s capital city of Hartford, the county saw a 13.13% increase in home price over the past year. The median home price is $336,610 in Hartford County.

    Bulloch County, Georgia

    Home to Statesboro, Bulloch saw a 12.91% year-over-year price increase. In Bulloch County, the median home price is $256,325.

    Washington County, Virginia

    Abingdon is the largest city you’ll find in Washington County, which is on the western side of the state. Washington County saw a 12.88% price increase. The median home price in the county is $245,019.

    Winnebago County, Illinois

    Winnebago’s biggest city is Rockford, which has about 146,000 people. The county saw a 12.79% increase in home prices, with the median home price being $174,009. For context, the state of Illinois saw a price hike of 7.3% over the past year.

    Unicoi County, Tennessee

    Unicoi County is in the northeastern part of Tennessee. Its largest city is Erwin, which has just under 6,000 people. Unicoi County saw a 12.61% year-over-year price increase, with the median home price being $222,392. Tennessee as a whole saw a price increase of 4.7% over the past year.

    Hendry County, Florida

    Hendry County has seen a 12.4% year-over-year price change, bringing the median home price to $227,329. The most populous city in Hendry County is Clewiston, which is about an hour and a half west of Boca Raton.

    Marion County, Georgia

    Marion County’s largest city is Buena Vista, a two hour drive from Atlanta. Marion County saw a 12.31% year-over-year price increase, with the median home price being $130,638.

    Onondaga County, New York

    Onondaga County is where Syracuse is located, and the college town has seen quite a jump in home price — 12.29%, to be exact. The median home price in Onondaga County is $232,390.
