Independence Day celebrations prepare for fireworks across Kentucky and southern Indiana
LOUISVILLE, Ky. — From parades to neighborhood festivals, Independence Day celebrations took place on both sides of the Ohio River on Thursday. Over in Jeffersonville, Indiana the city held its annual 4th of July Parade that went right through downtown. There was no lack of patriotism as both parade participants and spectators were decked out in red, white and blue.
New Albany City Council takes action to make Silver Creek dam safer

In a unanimous vote, the common council moved to add signs and other safety measures warning people about the dangers of swimming in the creek to make the area safer — after 14-year-old Andre Edwards Jr. drowned in May.
