    South Coast Rail construction work ongoing: Here's what to look out for in 60 seconds

    Even in a holiday-shortened week, work continues on the final stages of South Coast Rail, with several pieces of the project still needing to be finished.

    Here’s what’s on the horizon:

    New Bedford pedestrian bridge work

    Where it is: The pedestrian bridge spans Route 18 and Acushnet Avenue, connecting downtown to New Bedford Station.

    What’s happening: Construction takes place on Purchase Street between Pearl and Willis streets, near the former MassHire Greater New Bedford Career Center at 618 Acushnet Ave., and at Route 18 near the Purchase Street exit

    When: Work will take place weekdays from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., except for July 4.

    Grade crossings being improved

    Where it is: All grade crossings on the entire South Coast Rail project from Middleboro to Fall River and New Bedford. A grade crossing is a spot where a road and the rail line meet at the same level.

    What’s happening: Crews will be enhancing the grade crossing striping for safety reasons.

    When: Sunday to Wednesday, 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.

    Construction at stations

    Where it is: East Taunton Station, 1141 County St., Taunton; Church Street Station, 387 Church St., New Bedford; Wamsutta Layover Facility, 217 Herman Melville Blvd., New Bedford; New Bedford Station, Acushnet Avenue

    What’s happening: Construction is ongoing at New Bedford and East Taunton stations, and punch list work is ongoing at other stations, layover facilities and along the right-of-way on the entire route.

    When: Monday to Saturday, 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., except for July 4.
